April was full of events, activities, lectures, concerts, and conferences on campus. The social media team was busy almost every single day of the month covering big events like the 2017 Undergraduate Research Conference, Philanthropy Day, Pitas with the President, and more... Read on for some of our April 2017 highlights.

Facebook:

As we continue to celebrate our 150th anniversary, we thought it would be great to keep the theme alive for this year’s April Fools Day prank. Since our school originated in Hanover, New Hampshire, we told our followers that we’re moving back. The joke was complete with graphics and a website, but after visiting, it directed people to our real #UNH150 website to learn more about our real celebration going on. The Facebook post reached 62,900+ people and had 116 shares with 85 comments. Most were amused, but one or two took us seriously. The entire April Fool’s Day social media campaign was done organically and it was our most engaging, reaching, and clicked on Facebook post for April 2017. We had more than 2,760 clicks to our website from this post.

Our top Facebook video post for April 2017 told the story of the UNH Men and Women’s Rugby club’s LT Scott F. Milley Memorial 7’s Tournament in honor of Lieutanant Scott F. Milley ’09, who was killed while serving in Afghanistan.

The video was a great demonstration of how all the alumni and students, along with UNH Campus Recreation, get together each year to honor Scott and raise money for the foundation.

The Facebook post reached 43,345 people with 818 reactions, 4106 shares, and 27 comments. Over 5,000 minutes were viewed and the top audience was men, 25–34 in Massachusetts.

We’ve had great success with this platform reaching both the high school and college audiences and each month it seems to get better and better. Special thanks to Tyler Wentworth ’08 for scheduling the takeovers!
